Kuuluin aikoinani Vihreä Lohikäärme -nimiseen forumiin. Tolkien harrastajien yhteinen forumi. Muistaakseni löysin forumin ystäväni kautta. Emme kumpikaan olleet mitenkään erityisen Tolkien faneja mutta kovia fantasiafaneja kuitenkin ja minä olin kyllä aivan täysin koukussa Sormusten Herran elokuvista. Sovin siis joukkoon kaikesta huolimatta.
Forumilta löysin samanhenkisiä ihmisiä joilla oli samanlaiset mielenkiinnot kuin itsellänikin. Olin aktiivinen forumilainen ainakin 9. luokasta asti. Keskustelu oli hauskaa. Osa tosin nykyään aika noloja jos niitä menisi lukemaan nyt. En tosin tiedä löytyisikö vanhoja kirjoittelujani vielä jostain.
Lukioaikoinani tapasinkin muutamia forumilaisia miiteissä. Ne olivat hauskoja tapaamisia. Tutustuin ensimmäisen kerran elämässäni kiinalaiseen ruokaan, keskiaikaisiin markkinoihin, keskiaikaharrastamiseen sekä sain kuulla larppaamisesta vaikken tätä koskaan olekaan vielä harrastanut (kiinnostusta olisi kyllä). Sen lisäksi teimme jänniä tempauksia. Nämä ihmiset eivät olleet ns. "normaaleja", jäyhiä suomalaisia :D
Olen ollut mukana kaksi kertaa Taru Sormusten herrasta maratoonissa. Ensimmäisen kerran vuokrasimme oikein Turusta tilan. Toisella kerralla olimme yhden forumilaisen kotona. Molemmat kerrat olivat hauskoja. Olen ollut myös keskiaikapiknikillä kesällä Turun Linnan puistossa. Pukeuduttiin keskiaika-asuihin ja syötiin herkkuja, juteltiin ja laulettiin.

Olemme tanssineet niin Turun kauppatorilla kuin sateensuojassakin Turun Linnan sisäänkäynnin holvikaaressa. Yleisöä on ollut, enemmän ja vähemmän. Ja mitäkö tanssimme? No pornopolkkaa tietenkin!! Tätä Hedningarnan pornopolkkaa! Opetinpa tanssin myös englannin kielen kurssilaisilleni kun piti tehdä jokin opetuskerta englanniksi jostain aiheesta.
Valitettavasti en enää muista miten tätä tanssia tanssitaan :( En myöskään ole käynyt forumilla enää moneen monituiseen vuoteen. Aktiivisuuteni lopahti siinä joskus lukion loputtua, ehkä aikaisemminkin. Ei vain oikein ollut enää aikaa. Suurin syy saattoi olla teatteriharrastuksen aloittaminen joka vei kaiken lopun ajastani mitä minulla oli. Pysyin kuitenkin vielä jonkin aikaa forumin irssikanavalla 'Kontu' ja korvasin forumkirjoittelun irkkaamisella. Nykyään en enää edes irkkaa joten forumi ja sen ympärille perustettu yhdistys 'Kontu' ovat pahasti jääneet unholaan. Kävin vielä yhdessä isommassa miitissä moikkaamassa vanhoja tuttuja forumilaisia tässä muutama vuosi sitten mutta täytyy myöntää, että en tiedä forumin ja yhdistyksen tapahtumista enää nykyään mitään. Sinänsä harmi. Siellä on mahtavaa porukkaa ja olen löytänyt monta ystävää jotka tosin tällä hetkellä muistuttavat olemassaolostaan vain Facebookissa.
Tämä biisi tuo mieleeni siis useitakin muistoja ja ihania ihmisiä. Se on kaiken lisäksi hyvä biisi ja mm. sen myötä tutustuin Hedningarnaan josta pidän yhtälailla kuin Värttinästä.
Edit: Löysin juuri wikipediasivun tanssista! Kyseessä on kyynärtanssi. "Suomessa tanssi tunnetaan riehakkaana keskiaikaharrastajien ja liveroolipelaajien suosimana tanssina, lempinimeltään pornopolkka. Nimi tulee Hedningarna-yhtyeen kappaleesta Pornopolka" Löysin myös videon jossa pornopolkkaa tanssitaan! Videota katsellessa tuli todellakin ikävä tuota yhteisöä!!

Oh, this song brings back wonderful memories!
Back in days I was involved in forum called Vihreä Lohikäärme (Green Dragon). It was a forum for Tolkien enthusiasts. I remember I found the forum through my friend. We weren't a real Tolkien fans but we loved fantasy and actually I was a big fan of the Lord of the Rings movies. So I fitted in.
From the forum I found people who were the same as me and had the same interests. I was an active forum user from 9th grade. It was fun discussing about things. Although, some were quite embarrassing if I would read them now. But I'm not sure if I could still find those old writings somewhere.
At high school years I even met some of the people from the forum at meetings. They were very nice. I introduced myself first time to Chinese food, medieval fair, medieval activities and I got to know what LARPing was, even though I haven't never done it yet (I'm still interested though). In addition we made interesting stunts. After all, these people weren't the "normal" serious Finns :D
I was in two The Lord of the Rings movie marathons. First time we even rented some space from Turku. The second time we were in some of our friend's house. Both times were wonderful. I've also been on a medieval picnic at the park of Turku castle. We dressed up in medieval clothes, ate some good stuff, talked and sang.
And we danced!
We've danced at the Turku's market square as well as in the entrance arch of Turku Castle while trying to keep the rain. There has been audience, more and less. And what did we dance? Porno polka of course! This Hedningarna's Pornopolska! I also taught the dance for my English class at high school when we had a task to teach something to each others in English.
Unfortunately I've forgotten how to dance this :( I haven't also been in the forum for many years anymore. My activity fizzled out sometime after high school, maybe even earlier. I just didn't have time for it anymore. I think the main reason was my theatre hobby which took almost all of my spare time. I did stay in the forum's IRC channel called 'Kontu' (Shire) and it kind of made up for the forum. Now I don't even use IRC anymore so the forum and association which was made around the forum called 'Kontu' (Shire) are away from my life. I did go to one of the meetings few years ago where I met all my old friends but I must admit I have no clue what the forum or the association is doing nowadays. It's a shame. There were wonderful people and I found so many friends which now reminds me of themselves only in Facebook.
This song brings back those memories and wonderful people. On the top of everything it's a good song and including it I got to introduced to Hedningarna and I really like it as much as I like Värttinä.
Edit: I just found out the dance from wikipedia! It's called Strip the Willow. "In Finland the dance is know as boisterous dance favoured by medieval enthusiasts and LARP players, its nickname is pornopolka. The name comes from the song Pornopolka by Hedningarna." I'm not sure if it's really the same dance as described in the Wikipedia but at least it's evolved from that, I think. I also found a video from Finnish Ropecon where they were dancing pornopolka! While watching the video I really started to miss that community!!
